Trimming the Tree

We finally put up our tree this week. I thought Sofie would be more into it this year, but she was more into pulling the tupperware and pie pans out of the cabinets. I did get her to hang her new ornament on the tree though and was able to catch one quick, albeit blurry, photo of the coveted ornament hanging. Even if Sofie wasn't that into it this year, I still had fun, and so did Lola and Gracie. Can you tell how excited they were?

Sofie was more interested in the tree the next morning. But surprisingly, she really hasn't bothered the ornaments, other than sticking her nose on the blue one at eye level and looking at her round reflection. *cute* She's much more into getting the two little stuffed Christmas bears out from under the tree and carrying them around while yelling "Bear!" which sounds more like "Beee!"

It just doesn't seem like the Christmas season has started until the tree is up. We always used to have a real tree, which I LOVED. But the last three years we've had an artificial tree. SO not the same. I think we need to bring back the real deal next year.

My friend, Chelse, and her family have made a tradition of going out to the Christmas tree farm and cutting their tree down each year. It looks so fun!! Of course, I wouldn't be the one wielding the saw, and I realize that makes it sound much more fun to me than say, Kenny, the would-be lumberjack. But maybe he'll cave next year to the "PUHLEEEEEEEASE, Daddy!" and super sad pouty face. Both from Sofie, of course.

We always go to a tree farm or out into the woods to get a tree. It is fun, but can be sooo cold. With my husband, you drive until you are about to get stuck, then you get out and trudge through the snow for an hour until you find just the right one...It is a bit more challenging with kids...
Sofie is such a cutie pie!

This is our first real tree in several years and our first time cutting one down ourselves. My husband definately isn't a "lumberjack" as you put it, but he and our 13yr old son did just fine! Emily (22 1/2mo) is normally into EVERYTHING, however, she's NOT interested in the tree.
Sofie looks adorable admiring her cute self on the ornament!
